A Ukrainian refugee’s search for a roommate becomes an unexpected encounter with loneliness, belonging, and the unspoken wounds of war.

Maria, forced to flee Ukraine, moves into a rented apartment in Budapest and begins looking for a female neighbour to share it with. She invites women to visit, walk through the flat, and talk. What begins as casual conversations about food habits, shared bathrooms, and housekeeping slowly shifts into intimate reflections on home, solitude, and the longing for normality.

When Ukrainian girls start to arrive, the search for a roommate turns into an exchange of memories and the quietly devastating details of war, loss, and forced displacement. Within the four walls of a temporary home, Maria’s quest for a flatmate becomes a fragile attempt to rebuild community — and to feel rooted again.
