Essential Needs in Non-Fiction Financing

As funding resources shrink and competition grows, documentary projects are increasingly expected to demonstrate early signals of viability — from market participation and broadcaster interest to audience strategies and partnerships.
This panel explores how validation can support filmmakers in navigating funding and distribution challenges, and how audience reach and impact might be assessed and shared more transparently across the sector. Conceived as an open conversation, the discussion will continue informally during a jointly hosted apéro.
During the apéro, Doc Around Europe will also present a selection of Doc Around Europe Talents and invite the audience to connect with emerging documentary voices from across Europe.
