Biografilm Festival 2026 Opens Call for Entries: Submit Your Documentary or Fiction Film

The Doc Around Europe member festival Biografilm Festival invites filmmakers to submit their works for its 22nd edition, taking place June 5–15, 2026 in Bologna, Italy.

Internationally recognized as the cinematic event dedicated to life stories and quality cinema, Biografilm celebrates films that portray the world we live in through original, courageous, and authentic voices — whether in documentary or fiction.

Eligibility

Submissions are open to feature-length documentaries and fiction films (minimum 50 minutes) that:

were completed after January 1, 2025
have not yet been screened or released in Italy (including festivals or digital platforms)
qualify as an Italian premiere

Biografilm Art & Music
Biografilm Teen

Each section highlights unique perspectives on reality and storytelling, reflecting Biografilm’s mission to inspire dialogue, empathy, and cultural exchange.

Key Dates and Deadlines

Early Bird Deadline: December 11, 2025 (€40 + Festhome fee)
Second Deadline: February 4, 2026 (€60 + Festhome fee)
Final Deadline: March 18, 2026 (€80 + Festhome fee)

Student filmmakers may apply at a fixed €40 submission fee throughout the entire call period by contacting the Programming Office before submitting.
