Biography

Helena Peñalver i Guilleumes (Barcelona, 1999) is a multidisciplinary creative specializing in documentary directing and art direction. She holds a Master’s in Documentary from ESCAC, studied Film Directing at EFTI, and earned a degree in Advertising and Public Relations from UPF. Her career spans various disciplines within the creative field: she has worked for three years as an art director and has collaborated as a freelance designer and creative on numerous music videos and independent projects.

She was selected for the Looking China program, where she directed the short documentary The Thread Between Us in southern China. After taking part in DocsBarcelona Talents 2024 and winning one of the three awards, she is currently developing L’alegria dels peixos, a creative short documentary.

“I’m inspired by what can’t be seen — the invisible, the intangible. My work is an attempt to give shape to what can’t be measured, often guided by the energy I find in the sea.”
