Biography

Iber Deari is a North Macedonian film director known for socially engaged, visually grounded storytelling that often explores life in rural and underrepresented communities. Working across short and feature-length forms, his films examine identity, silence, and resistance through the texture of daily life.

His feature debut Everybody Calls Redjo received the Best Film Award in the Meridiana section at BIF&ST – Bari International Film Festival (Italy, 2025). His short documentary Antigona, portraying the only female van driver connecting eleven remote villages in rural North Macedonia, will have its World Premiere at Sheffield DocFest 2025.

Deari is also the director of My City Screams, awarded Best Film and Best Director at the Nine Eleven Festival in Prishtina, and Farmers Blues, winner of Best Short Film at the Beach Film Festival in Ohrid. In 2015, he was named Artist of the Year in North Macedonia and received the national award “Milingona e Artë”.

He currently serves as a film selector for the International Film Festival of New York (IFFNY).
