Biography

Inês T. Alves (Portugal, 1987) studied Cultural Narratives at NOVA University of Lisbon (FCSH), the University of Santiago de Compostela, and the University of Bergamo. She later studied Documentary Film at the University of the Arts London with the support of a Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation scholarship.

Alongside her filmmaking practice, she develops film workshops with diverse communities and age groups, collaborating with numerous associations. She is a founding member of MOVIMENTO, a collaborative film workshop held annually in Portugal since 2015.

Her short films have screened at film festivals in Portugal and internationally. Her short documentary Around Corners, which explores the post-colonial city of Maputo, Mozambique, through the lens of family memory, won the New Cinema Award at Porto/Post/Doc Festival. Juunt Pastaza Entsari (Waters of Pastaza) is her first feature film.
