Biography
María Mauti was born in Milan in 1974 and graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, having completed a Master’s degree in Creative Documentary at the UPF.
Since 2003, she has been working on music, opera and dance productions for Sky’s Classica HD platform. As a director and writer, she has made documentaries about Daniel Barenboim, Carolyn Carlson, Pina Bausch and Bill T. Jones, amongst many others. Her previous feature-length film, L’Amatore, a documentary about the Italian architect Piero Portaluppi, premiered at the Locarno Film Festival and the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). Last July, Mauti made her debut as an opera director at the Macerata Opera Festival with Norma de Bellini. In collaboration with the production company Oberon Media, she premiered Miralles at DOKLeipzig and the Ji-hlava Documentary Film Festival.
