Biography
Max Sorribas Bonel is a Spanish filmmaker and cultural journalist based in Barcelona. His debut short film El Balneari (2022) explores themes of social horror and collective anxiety, and was officially selected at the Sitges Film Festival. In 2025, he directed The Possibility of a Bookshop, a mixed-media short that raises awareness about the preservation of a local cultural center and bookshop in Barcelona. The film won Best Short at the Premi Seqüència and was screened at several local initiatives and film contests. He is currently developing a documentary about the housing crisis in contemporary Spain, focusing on stories of community resistance. As a founding member of Contracultural magazine, Max has collaborated with numerous film festivals, including DocsBarcelona, In-Edit, and L’Alternativa, contributing to projects that highlight independent voices and innovative storytelling. He is interested in collaborating with filmmakers and producers engaged in socially conscious cinema and experimental narrative forms.
