SISTERS — France 2025 — Directed by: Julia Zahar — 60 min — Spoken language: French — Subtitles: French, English — Production Company: Beall Productions — Producer: Eloïse Brannens
"In 2020, my little sister survived a serious assault while traveling. When she returned, she wasn’t quite herself anymore and fell into a deep depression. Feeling lost in the face of what was happening to her, I did what I’ve always done: I filmed her. For four years, I documented her slow and fragile recovery within our family. I filmed her daily life, marked by relapses, doubts, and bursts of vitality. Very quickly, the camera created a space of its own, a world we recreated together, just as we did when we were children. Creativity then becomes a shared language, dancing, singing, drawing, inventing, to breathe life back into a world that had come to a standstill. Through her battle with depression, our bond transforms and shines brighter than ever. “Sisters” is a film about time, mental health, healing, and the magical power of sisterhood."
